This fan works great in my large living room. The fan speed is super fast when on a high speed. It cools the house down quickly. I haven't tried the lower speed since it is very hot outside. Not too sure on the remote. It has an up arrow and a down arrow for the speed of the fan. I guess it is okay. The fan is super quiet. You don't realize that it is on, except for the wind that it provides. If I had the chance to buy it all over again, I would.
